Hi, I'm 15 and I have an underbite. My orthodontist told me I couldn't have surgery till I'm 18 so that my mouth and teeth have fully grown etc. But I'm wondering, would surgery affect my education seeing as I'll be in University probably? Thanks.

Most of the patients undergo surgery when they are 18 or 19. Depending on the state of country, doctors issue a sickness leave for patients and universities should not treat it else wise. Also, do not forget to talk about that with your surgeon – maybe you will be able to plan your surgery during vacation from university – in such a case your studies will not be affected at all.
