Hi, I am 18 years old and never worn braces but I have worn plates. My brother has undergone orthognathic surgery and we had the same profile (our lower jaw is extended). He has worn braces so his doctor recommended surgery however since I have never worn braces am I able to have the surgery?? Thanks.

Yes, you can have surgery, it does not depend on whether you have worn braces in the past. You will need to wear them before the surgery to properly prepare your occlusion.
