Hi. I had braces for 4 years all thru HS and my orthodonist recommended jaw correction surgery, but my parents thought it was too major. Now as a 30 yr old adult I would like the surgery. If my teeth are still the same after the orthodonic treatment, would I still need braces for at least a year or longer pre-surgery? Thank you

Yes, you are right. You will need braces for sure. Sometimes only slide readjustments are needed, however sometimes the aim or pre-surgical setup is to remove big dental compensations that were previously performed to bring lower and upper teeth into occlusion. It may take even up to 2 years.
