Hi, I've found your site very helpful, thanks. I have an underbite and considering treatment. They will move lower jaw 6mm back, and top jaw 3mm forward. It's always been in my mind to get it fixed but making the decision is very daunting and finding psychologically trying to guess how I will feel at the end of the surgery and whether I'll recognise myself, or whether I've blown it out of proportion and it won't be as drastic as I'm thinking it will be. I'm wondering if this is how other people felt too.

Thanks for appreciation, we are doing our best to help patients realize this type of treatment better. You are intending to undergo big changes. Total surgical movement of 9 mm will for sure change your facial profile dramatically, however the 6 mm setback of the lower jaw is rather rare in our practice, you might want to double check with your surgeon if you are not going to end up with the chin too round or too small or soft tissue double chin in the end of the day.
