I'm 15 years old and I'm currently discussing the plans for my procedure, and should be getting braces by January 2011 and I'm a little concerned about how this would affect my school work, and how long I would have to have braces on for altogether. I have been waiting for three years now, and finally he's beginning to do something, however, I've still got a while to go, what information can you give to help decide the risks and benefits about the procedure? Thanks.

Your concerns are absolutely natural. Orthognathic surgery is a very important step in your life, keeping in mind that the entire treatment may take up to 3 years. What concerns risks and benefits - the ratio is very small once you are in good hands of orthodontist and surgeon.
